This Weekend!

This weekend was SO much fun! And productive.

We went to First Friday at the Museum of Natural History to see our friend Salvador in his amazing LA band Fool's Gold (
http://www.myspace.com/foolsgoldla) and enjoyed a night with beautiful people at a really awesome venue. We also got to hang out with one of our favorite friends: Sarah! Ch ch check her blog out at: http://thecoachellavalleyartscene.com/

Sarah in Glendale

On Saturday we had the great opportunity to see a leading name in the sprouting of community gardens around the nation as well as in other countries: Fritz Haeg.

Us in action!

He invited us to his house, affectionatly known as the Sundown Salon, and we had the chance to document an amazing interview which will be a tremendous addition to Sprouting Pavement: A Documentary of and about Urban Gardens.

Rather than the Santa Cruz Homeless Garden and City Slicker Farms which are more organized urban farm production, Fritz Haeg advocates the importance of a front yard garden and what that inevitably adds to the community as a whole. He says he is a catalyst for the garden, but gives the responsibility to the house owner and community to keep the garden going and being productive. It doesn't hurt that he has a strong background in art which is seen in the design of all of his Edible Estates.

Another Healthy Snack

Sneak Peak 2
We talked to Siobhan Asgharzadeh and Michael Flynn... Thank you to everyone at Common Vision and Carver Elementary!
STAY TUNED FOR MORE SOON!

A Common Vision

On Tuesday March 3, 2009 we went to Compton, CA to visit with the inspiring folks at CommonVison.org

They we at Carver Elementary School where they engaged students interactively through drumming and tree planting work shops.

The kids seemed really eager to get their hands in the dirt, and you couldn't help but think, where did the magic go? When you see a lot of adults terrified and to lazy to do the same.

Though it was inspiring to see that humans have a natural inclination to the earth. STAY TUNED FOR A VIDEO OF THIS DAY!

A Little Healthy Snack...

We decided to water the flames, and give you a sneak peak behind Sprouting Pavement. Sit back and take it in. It's a rough cut, though I did say it was a snack right?
